A LOWESTOFT teenager is due to appear in court today (Friday) after being charged with five offences.

Richard Smith, 18, of Springfield Gardens in Lowestoft, has been charged with a burglary at a shop in London Road North on August 3, criminal damage to a shop at Westwood Avenue on August 10, theft of a satellite navigation system and a car radio/CD player from a car parked in Surrey Street on August 3, assaulting a police officer in the execution of their duty and criminal damage to a cell at Lowestoft police station.

The teenager was arrested after an alert member of the public noticed suspicious behaviour outside the shop in Westwood Avenue about 11.30pm on Wednesday night and immediately dialled 999.

He was subsequently charged and is due to appear at Great Yarmouth Magistrates Court this morning (Friday, August 12).
