Lowestoft Town FC's first home friendly of the new season has been put back a day due to the World Cup semi-finals.

As England clash with Croatia in the eagerly awaited last four encounter on Wednesday, The Trawlerboys scheduled clash with Waveney has been moved – and will now be played this Thursday, July 12 at the Amber Dew Events Stadium with a 7.45pm kick-off.

A club spokesman said: 'The club's home friendly against Waveney has been rearranged to the following day due to the World Cup semi-finals taking place.'

As Jamie Godbold's men prepare for the new season in the Southern League Central, Lowestoft will face Soham Town Rangers this Saturday, July 14 at the Amber Dew Events Stadium, 3pm kick off, before taking on Ipswich Town U23s at home at 7.45pm next Wednesday, July 18. Further pre season friendlies are due to be held on Saturday, July 21 Gorleston (away) 3pm; Tuesday, July 24 Norwich United (home) 7.45pm; Saturday, July 28 Bury Town (away) 3pm and Tuesday, July 31 Kirkley (away) 7.45pm.
