A LOWESTOFT woman has been given a suspended prison sentence for punching a 16-year-old girl.

Lisa Bellamy, 21, of Old Nelson Street, attacked the girl on September 22 when the car she was travelling in pulled up alongside the victim, who was riding a moped, and a row erupted over whether the car had pulled up too close.

Bellamy pleaded guilty at Lowestoft Magistrates Court on Tuesday to causing actual bodily harm.

She had previous convictions and suffered problems with anger management.

Calvin Saker, mitigating, said there had been an element of provocation from the victim.

Bellamy was given a 24-week prison sentence, suspended for a year, and a restraining order preventing her from contacting the 16-year-old. Bellamy must also pay her victim £250 compensation and pay £85 court costs.
