Police are appealing for information after a woman was woken by a noise in the early hours and discovered an intruder in her home.

The woman was disturbed at about 1.50am on Saturday by a banging noise at her front door in Ethel Road, which became louder and louder.

When she went down to check what was happening, she saw a man coming out of her living room who then fled.

He was slim, 5ft 2in to 5ft 3in tall, and wearing dark clothing, including a hooded top.
