THERE will be a touch of magic in the air in Lowestoft tomorrow (November 27) as The Fairy Godmother and Buttons switch on the town's Christmas lights.

THERE will be a touch of magic in the air in Lowestoft tomorrow (November 27) as The Fairy Godmother and Buttons switch on the town's Christmas lights.

Pantomime stars Anne Charleston and Dave Benson Phillips will lead the big switch on at 4.30pm, accompanied by The Ugly Sisters, Father Christmas and The Beach's Paul Carter.

There will be a special children's fun fair and a whole host of other family entertainment as the town centre hosts a memorable night.

Once again the leading retailers and Town Centre Management Partnership have teamed up with the Marina Theatre for the event, but this time it will be from a new location.

At around 4pm there will be a special procession featuring the stars of Cinderella, the Beach Bunny and Father Christmas. They will leave the Marina Theatre and head for Timpsons, in London Road North, where Anne Charleston, Dave Benson Phillips, The Ugly Sisters and fellow Cinderella cast members will turn the lights on at 4.30pm.

Following the switch on Father Christmas will go on to his Grotto inside Godfrey's Suffolk Road department store and the Fairy Godmother - Anne Charleston - will meet customers in Palmers Department Store, London Road North,

Free town centre parking will be available from 2pm and after the official ceremony tomorrow, children's rides will be situated outside Westgate in London Road North and donkey rides will be available near the Post Office.

The big switch-on also signals the start of late night shopping, with free town centre parking from 6pm on Thursdays.

From Monday, December 7, evening parking in Lowestoft will be free every night from 6pm and all-day Sunday parking will be �1 until March 31, 2010.
