FIREFIGHTERS spent several hours tackling a large fire at a former Aldi store in Suffolk last night (Monday).
Four fire crews were called to the former Aldi store in Commercial Road, Lowestoft, at just after 9pm.
Two crews from Lowestoft South, one from Normanshurst and one from Wrentham attended the scene of the blaze at the disused building.
They were joined by a crew from Beccles and an aerial appliance from Great Yarmouth.
A spokeswoman for Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service said the fire affected the roof of the building but firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control by midnight.
Firefighters were expected to stay at the scene into the early hours of the morning.
