A 19-YEAR-OLD man from Lowestoft was arrested by police after trouble flared in the town centre.

The police van and two patrol cars were deployed to London Road North following reports of an altercation between two men at around 1.40pm on Wednesday.

Onlookers described how a man was grappled to the floor by seven police officers, before he was taken away by the police van.

A police spokesman told The Journal: 'A 19-year-old man from Lowestoft was arrested under section five of the public order act. 'He has been detained and is currently in custody at Lowestoft police station as enquiries continue.'
