A MAN was attacked by two assailants who entered his Lowestoft flat uninvited and stole a Samurai sword belonging to him, it has been alleged.
Keith Franklin was at his home in London Road South, watching television, when there was a call on his intercom from a man saying he had some money for him, Ipswich Crown Court heard yesterday.
Mr Franklin knew the man did not owe him any money and decided not to let him in, said Rex Bryan, prosecuting.
However, shortly afterwards he realised someone was in his flat and when he went to investigate he discovered two men.
The men allegedly pushed Mr Franklin into a chair and hit him while one of them asked him about an argument Mr Franklin had allegedly had with his father a few days earlier, said Mr Bryan.
One of the men had then grabbed an ornamental Samurai sword worth 120 and they left the flat.
Before the court are Brendon Dolan, 23, of London Road South, Lowestoft, and Daniel Bell, 21, of Denmark Road, Lowestoft, who have denied burglary and common assault.
After his arrest, Dolan claimed he had been stabbed on the hand with the Samurai sword by Mr Franklin.
Bell said he went to the flat to speak to Mr Franklin about allegedly beating up Dolan's father. He said the door to Mr Franklin's flat had been open and when they went in they had come across Mr Franklin who was waving the sword.
Bell said he had grabbed the sword and taken it to his flat.
The trial continues today.
