A man has been charged with assault by police after an incident in a Suffolk town.

Tomas Venkus, 33, of Winnipeg Road in Lowestoft, was charged with two counts of assault. He was released on bail to appear before Great Yarmouth Magistrates’ Court on August 8.

The charge follows an incident where a man on London Road North had picked up a young girl before putting her down after being shouted at by her mother on Saturday, July 21.

This came after a similar incident when another child was picked up by the man and put down once challenged.
