Man charged with possession of imitation firearm following gun scare

A 45-year-old Lowestoft man has been charged with possession of an imitation firearm after a late-night gun scare.
Paul May, of Weston Road, has been charged with possessing an imitation firearm and for using threatening or abusive words or behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm, or distress.
At 10.45pm on Wednesday, April 25, police received reports of a man “carrying what appeared to be a firearm” in the Weston road area.
A Suffolk Constabulary spokesman said: “Police were immediately dispatched and located May in Weston Road. He was arrested in connection with the incident and taken to Great Yarmouth Police Investigation Centre for questioning.
“Officers conducted a search at the property at the time but no firearm was located.
“May appeared before Norwich Magistrates’ Court today where he has been remanded into custody pending a next hearing on a date to be fixed.”
