An 86-year-old man struck by a vehicle in a suspected hit-and-run incident in Lowestoft has died from his injuries, police have confirmed.

Brian Mitchell, from Lowestoft, died in hospital on December 23.

Emergency services were called to High Street at 12.50am on Wednesday, November 15, with reports an injured man had been found hurt close to the Jubilee Way petrol station.

A Suffolk Constabulary spokesman said Mr Mitchell had sustained injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle that had failed to stop.

Mr Mitchell was taken to hospital with suspected wrist, hand, leg and head injuries but his condition deteriorated.

As a result of police enquiries, a man has been interviewed in connection with the incident, and the investigation is ongoing.
