A MOTORIST who drove off after crashing into another vehicle near Lowestoft's main Royal Mail sorting office been fined 165.

Mark Purvis, 30 of Portsch Close, Carlton Colville, was in his Ford Focus in Barnards Way on September 24 when he struck a parked Nissan Navarro, causing 400 of damage.

However, he failed to report the accident or leave his details.

Appearing at Lowestoft Magistrates' Court on Monday, Purvis admitted driving without due care and attention, failing to stop after an accident, and failing to report an accident.

The court heard that Purvis had a clean driving licence and that the lack of parking spaces around the Royal Mail building posed problems for motorists.

Purvis, who is on benefits, was fined 65 and given five penalty points on his licence for failing to stop after an accident. He was fined a further 65 for failing to report an accident and fined 35 for driving without due care and attention. Purvis was also also ordered to pay 85 costs and a 15 surcharge.
