A 40-year-old man needed hospital treatment after he was squirted in the face with what is thought to be glue during an assault in Lowestoft.

Police are seeking witnesses after the man was assaulted on the beach at Corton Road between 7pm and 8pm on Saturday (December 17).

The man had walked down Tramps Alley, just north of the entrance to Dip Farm, and got to the paved area at the bottom when he heard laughing behind him. The 40-year-old continued walking south along this paved area at the foot of the cliffs but was then grabbed by two men while a third squirted a substance in his face.

The three attackers then ran away. The 40-year-old managed to get himself to North Parade where he flagged down a motorist and an ambulance was called.

He was taken to the James Paget University Hospital in Gorleston where his face was bathed to remove the substance – thought to be glue – before he was discharged.

Police are asking anyone who may have been in the area around this time on Saturday to come forward if you saw any incident or the men involved.
