MOTORISTS are being asked to avoid the town centre area close to Lowestoft Library following a three-vehicle collision on Monday afternoon.

Police, the ambulance service and firefighters were dealing with the collision in Katwijk Way with a 40-year-old man believed to be trapped inside one of the vehicles.

The emergency services were called to the scene, close to the Denmark Road junction, just after 3pm and the roads were closed with traffic being diverted.

The crash involved a white Ford Transit panel van, a purple Chrysler estate and a white Ford breakdown truck. A police spokesperson told The Journal “We would ask motorists to avoid the area if possible. “A man, believed to be the van driver, is trapped inside one of the vehicles and has suffered neck injuries.”

Firefighters were on the scene and the roof of the van had to be cut off to free the man who was trapped inside.
