A man was taken to hospital after the mobility scooter he was driving fell off a promenade and on top of two sunbathers.
The incident, which happened around 1pm on Friday, June 29 on Southwold beach, saw the driver taken to hospital and two others treated for cuts and bruises.
A spokesman for Lowestoft and Southwold Coastguard said: “The Lowestoft Coastguard Rescue Team were paged to reports that a adult male had fallen off the prom on his mobility scooter onto the beach and was trapped under it.
“On arrival at the scene, the team discovered that he had fallen and landed on two people sunbathing, so there were in-fact three casualties.
“Along with the RNLI Lifeguards that were on scene, the team assisted the ambulance service in stabilising the gentleman and at the same time treated the other two casualties, thankfully who had suffered just cuts and bruises.
“Once the casualty was stabilised, we completed the extraction from the beach back up onto the prom and to the waiting ambulance.”
A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance service said: “We were called at just after 1pm on June 29 to reports of a road traffic collision on the beach, near St James Green, Southwold.
“Two ambulances and an ambulance officer attended. It is believed a mobility scooter left the pier and landed on two people.
“Two patients were treated for minor injuries by the crews. One of the patients, unknown age and gender, suffered suspected face and shoulder injuries and was taken to James Paget Hospital for further treatment.”
