Firefighters have been working to free two drivers after a crash trapped them inside their cars.

Suffolk Police were called at around 1.50pm this afternoon following reports of a head-on collision between two cars on the A1095 Halesworth Road in Reydon, near Southwold.

Three vehicles were mobilised by Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service, while the East of England Ambulance Service and East Anglian Air Ambulance were also present.

Upon arrival at the scene, near to Old Hall Farm, the emergency services found that both drivers were trapped in their vehicles.

Fire crews subsequently worked to free a male driver from one of the cars. With the roof of the car having been removed, the man was released and airlifted by East Anglian Air Ambulance to Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital with serious ankle injuries.

Firefighters then set about freeing a female driver from the other car involved in the collision. Once removed, she was taken by ambulance to James Paget University Hospital in Gorleston with serious injuries to her pelvis and arm.

The scene was made safe by the fire service by around 3.30pm.
