Organisers were overjoyed after scores attended a charity event surrounding Lowestoft's maritime history.

Hosted by Anita Marriott and her mother Sally, 'Trawl Through Time' was held on January 20 to raise money for Alzheimer's Research UK, whose work has been close to the family's hearts since Anita's grandmother Evelyn Knights died as a result of dementia.

Mrs Knights' husband Daniel worked in the fishing industry, as did his father before him.

The St Andrew's Church event featured a presentation from Lowestoft Maritime Museum's Colin Dixon and Roy Hammond, who discussed Lowestoft's historic beach village.

Anita said: 'We had a fantastic turnout and couldn't believe how much support we received; we're very pleased.'

Anita would like to thank Alzheimer's Research UK, St Andrew's Church, Lowestoft Maritime Museum and all those who donated raffle prizes and contributed to the running of the event. Over £300 was raised.

• The Lowestoft Journal would like to apologise for an error in last week's edition which failed to mention the event's location.
