A historic museum which celebrates Lowestoft’s rich maritime history will open for free for a week next month to celebrate its anniversary.
The Lowestoft Maritime Museum, in Sparrows Nest Park, celebrated its 50th anniversary last year, and for its 51st it is putting on a range of family friendly events in August.
From Monday, August 12, to Sunday, August 18, the 'tardis of a museum' has free admission to its displays, models and activities.

Little explorers will join Captain Crabbe and Admiral the cat on a navigation trail around the museum to investigate clues, while older children can try their hand at the fish'n'ships trail or the lighthouse quiz.
There are also special opportunities for visitors to create their own souvenirs, painting rocks and models of ships to take home.
Later in the month Suffolk Artlink will lead an afternoon of tall tales with storyteller Lynn Whitehead.
