Reggie the Lion, mascot at nearby Africa Alive!, was helping members of the community take part in a litter pick, which was organised by the Parish Council.

Every three months, residents come together to make the village a more attractive sight, by removing rubbish and having a catch up in the process.

Along with the unusual mascot appearance, Councillor Bruce Provan also attended, with around ten people taking part in total.

Mick Sims, organiser of the event, said the litter pick was 'really good for community spirit' with everyone having 'a good old laugh and joke.'

'It was a great day and more and more people are getting involved every time', Mr Sims said.

'We were really pleased when the lion came down and along with a few people from the village, helped to pick up a lot of litter.

'The next one will take place in October and as it is holiday season, I guess there will be a bit more to pick up.

'We need to get more people involved though especially a few more youngsters.'
