A MASKED raider fled empty-handed out of a Lowestoft shop after confronting the owners with a handgun.

Police are seeking witnesses after the would-be robber attempted to hold up the G and M Corner Shop in Waveney Crescent.

The two owners of the corner shop were preparing to close at 8.50pm last night when they were confronted with a terrifying scenario.

A man, wearing a cream-coloured mask, approached the shop counter and pointed a silver handgun at the owners - shouting “Give me your money.”

But when the shocked owners told him there was no money, the man ran away out the door.

The raider is described as a white man, about 5ft 11in, of slim to medium build with short brown hair and a local accent.

He was wearing blue jeans, a black hooded top and had a cloth mask over his face.

It is not known in which direction he ran off or whether he jumped into car. Anyone with information about the attempted armed robbery, or any witnesses should call Suffolk Police on 01473 613500.
