Reports of a man brandishing a weapon described as a meat cleaver chasing another down the road sparked a massive police response in Southtown, Great Yarmouth.

Reports of a man brandishing a weapon described as a meat cleaver chasing another down the road sparked a massive police response in Southtown, Great Yarmouth.

Police received a 999 call at about 3.15pm today reporting the altercation in the Albany Road/ Lichfield Road area.

At least five police cars arrived, blocking off nearby Anson Road, and there was also a police presence in Station Road.

Residents looked on as a police helicopter circled overhead.

It was later reported that police were still hunting the assailant but a weapon had been recovered.
