A road show will be visiting towns across Waveney to bring mental health services to local people.
The Mental Wellbeing Road Show is being led by Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust supported other organisations including Suffolk Family Carers, JobCentre Plus and Change, Grow, Live.
The first stop in Waveney will be at the Market Place in Bungay on Thursday, July 19, from 10am to 12.30pm, moving onto the Thoroughfare in Halesworth the same day from 1pm to 4pm.
Then on Friday, July 20, the road show will stop at the King’s Head in Beccles from 10am to 12.30pm, followed by South Green in Southwold from 1pm to 4pm.
And on Saturday, July 21, it will be at the Lowestoft Summer Festival on Royal Green from 10am to 4pm.
Howard Tidman, a senior practitioner with NSFT’s Great Yarmouth Acute Services, said: “There’s an assumption that people are mobile but in our experience that is not always the case which is why we are so keen to get out into the community.
“The reality is that many people with mental health problems and their carers live on low incomes, do not have a car and have to rely on public transport which in some parts of Norfolk and Suffolk is either very poor or non-existent.
“For many, it’s virtually impossible to get into Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft so we’re going out to them.
“We’re encouraging people to ask us questions and to share their stories with us. We’ll be able to give them advice, hand out useful information and signpost them to the services that can best meet their individual needs.”
Everyone is welcome to drop in for information, advice or a chat.
