Police and the ambulance service were called to London Road at Frostenden, close to the junction with Gipsy Lane, just after 3pm on Friday.

An onlooker said: “It looks like quite a nasty accident, with the motorcyclist having gone right into the front wheel arch of one of the cars.”

The three vehicles involved were a white Ford Escort, a black Toyota Auris and a white Honda motorcycle. A police spokesperson said: “Northbound traffic is blocked, but single file traffic is working southbound, with recovery taking place at the scene.”

The motorcyclist's injuries were not yet known, but it is thought that they “were not too serious.”
