THE funeral service took place at the Commodore Mission Church, Oulton Broad, of Ernest Edwin Smith, who died peacefully at Chevington Lodge, Bungay, on March 21, aged 86.
THE funeral service took place at the Commodore Mission Church, Oulton Broad, of Ernest Edwin Smith, who died peacefully at Chevington Lodge, Bungay, on March 21, aged 86.
The service of thanksgiving for the life of Ernest Edwin Smith was officiated by Baptist Minister John Norris.
Family mourners were: Dorothy Irene Smith (wife), Shirley and John Pond (daughter and son-in-law), Vanessa Haig and Graham Shilling (granddaughter and partner), Richard Pond and Denise Harwood (grandson and partner), Edward and Jenny Pond (grandson and wife also representing Ellen and Abbie great-granddaughters), Margaret and Eric Smith (sister-in-law and husband), Winnie and Jim Booth (sister-in-law and husband), Brian and Susan Smith (nephew and wife), Colin and Jackie Smith (nephew and wife), Adrian Smith (nephew), Sandra and John Cashman (niece and husband). Chevington Lodge staff: Iain Hatcher, Janet Kirkpatrick, Anne Bugden, Maria Marcu, Lynn Evans, Eva Seidlova, Hannah Manning and Sabrina Brown.
Other mourners: Janet Tillet (organist), Pauline Wilson (pianist), Margaret Crews, Pamela Bransby, Mr and Mrs K S Marjoram, Elizabeth Godbold and Malcolm Tillett.

The family would like to say a special thank you to the management and staff of Chevington Lodge Care Home, Bungay for their kindness and support in looking after Ernest for almost three years and especially the final days before his death, the special care and love went beyond that extra mile. The family would also like to thank all who have sent their kind messages of sympathy. Will all please accept this as the only but most sincere acknowledgment.
