THE funeral service took place at Gorleston Crematorium on Friday, November 9 for John Robert Gordon Cakebread DFC of Christmas Lane, Oulton Broad, who died on October 30 aged 84.

The Rev Val Burgess officiated.

Mourners were: Clare Cakebread (widow), Barbara Cakebread-Brown, Tess Cakebread-Brown, William Cakebread-Brown, Mr and Mrs Roger Wakefield, Jack Wakefield, Mr and Mrs David Cakebread, Peter Cakebread, Jane Nelthorpe, Mr and Mrs Terry Cakebread, Katy Wakefield, Andrew Ryle, Myrtle Lawson, Ken Read, Mr and Mrs Michael Buxton, Mabel Buxton, Sandra Clarke, Mr and Mrs Bill Bettinson, Mr and Mrs Paul Gray, Sarah Gray, Tony Taunton, Cyril Groves, Michael Orves, Charles Cudmore, Paul Connelly, Reg Blacker, Olive Bass, Mr and Mrs Bailey, Mr and Mrs J Moxom, P Eagle-Bott, Mr and Mrs Albert Crago, Paul Durrant, Mr and Mrs D Hepburn, Mr C Cickmore, Phyllis and George Nutburn, Hilary and Charles Collins, Mr and Mrs P Roe, Mrs E Pearson, Charles Fayers, P Boneham, Tom Wallace, Don Lea, John Goodfellow, Derek Suggate, Ken and Gwen Renshaw, Mike Saunders, John Allsop, John Skinner, Colin Godrey-Collins, Michael Howell, Keith Wilkinson, Tony Wright, Mr and Mrs B Poppy, Rodney Kett, David Fisk, Gordon Cole, John Crisp, Jim Miles, Alan Coleman, Walter Parnell, William Pryke, other members of local Masonic Lodges and Probus also attended the service too many to mention by name.

Floral tributes were from the immediate family only: In loving memory of Johnny, dear husband of Clare and fond father of Patsy and Barbara.

The family wish to thank all relatives and friends for their kind expressions of sympathy, their cards and letters and donations to The RAF Benevolent Fund being received c/o Critoph and Crowe 49-55 Lorne Park Road, Lowestoft.
