THE funeral service took place at St Margaret's Church, Lowestoft, followed by committal at Gorleston Crematorium on Thursday May 20, for Sydney Ernest Jacobs, of Lowestoft, who died on May 9, aged 82.

The Reverend Geoff Wilson officiated.

Mourners were: Joan Jacobs (wife); Allan and Shelagh Jacobs (son and daughter-in-law); Kenneth Jacobs (son); Karen Jackson (granddaughter); Stephen Jackson and Yvonne Horsley (grandson and partner); Mark and Kerrie Jacobs (grandson and wife); Shelly and Craig Jarvis (granddaughter and husband); Eleanor Jackson (great granddaughter); Liam Jackson (great grandson); Brian and Jean Richardson (brother-in-law and sister-in-law); Tugrul Narli; Pat and Alan Smith; Evelyn and Brian Jervis; Angela and Jake Davis; Moe and Sylvie Jacobs; Karl and Sally Jacobs; Kevin Jacobs; Jayne and Danny Bardwell; Daniel Bardwell and Melanie; Emily Bardwell; Syd and Marion Hurrell; Keith and Jean Hurrell; Alan Youngman; Dennis and Jean Youngman; Kevin Parfitt and Val Saunders; representatives from The Royal Artillery Association; The Royal Naval Patrol Service; The Royal Anglian Association; The Combined Services Association; Members of the Telecom Club; friends, neighbours and ex work colleagues too numerous to mention.

Jack Bessey was unavoidably absent.

Funeral arrangements were by R. Rivett Ltd., 15 Carlton Road, Lowestoft.

Mrs Joan Jacobs and family wish to thank all relatives and friends for their many kind expressions of sympathy, the beautiful floral tributes and for donations received. Donations for Help the Heros and East Anglian Air Ambulance are still being accepted c/o R. Rivett Ltd., 15 Carlton Road, Lowestoft, Suffolk NR33 0RU. Special thanks to Mark Jacobs and Shelly Jarvis for their tribute to their grandfather at St Margaret's Church, and Allan Jacobs for sharing memories of his dad at the crematorium. Dick Davies, Tony Wilson, Tom Bradley, Leo Whisstock, Col and Mrs Makin for their support and contribution, Standard Bearers from all Associations, Simon Hannett for playing the Last Post Staff Sergeant Jimmy Hall of 7 RHA, Rev Geoff Wilson for a lovely service, Sheila, Christine and Margaret at the Telecom Club, Paramedics and Nursing Staff Ward 5 JPH. Will all please accept this as the only but most sincere acknowledgement.
