THE funeral service took place at the Trinity Methodist Church, Lowestoft, which was full to capacity on October 14, followed by the committal at Gorleston Crematorium for Mrs Iris Smith (County Vice President for Scouts) of Lowestoft who died peacefully at home on September 29, aged 80 years.

Canon Henry Lunney (Suffolk Scout Chaplin) and Rev Roger Key (District Scout Chaplin) officiated.

Mourners were: Christopher (son), Philip (son), Helen (daughter), grandchildren Carol, Gemma and Zara. Other family members Mike, Bernadette, David.

Many other relatives and friends also attended the service, too many to mention by name.

The family wishes to thank all relatives and friends for their kind expression of sympathy, special thanks to Lowestoft District Commissioner for Scouts Peter Jarvis for the guard of honour. All fellow district and county Scouters for their friendship and support. Thanks to David and Paul Howard for honouring our mum and agreeing to be pall-bearers, Barry and Terrence for their long journey and love. Pat, Brian and Kerry for allowing us to be part of their family. Thanks also to the McMillan Nursing team and especially Home Hospice for the kindness and care towards our mother. Thanks to the nurses at the James Paget Hospital, ward 17 and also to Cossey Funeral Service, Bungay for arranging so beautifully the celebration of life for our mother. The total raised towards the donations for the Suffolk Scout Association was £517.25, the family thank everyone for their kind donations.
