THE funeral service took place at Gorleston Crematorium on Tuesday, September 8 for Marjorie Constance Hazelwood of Lowestoft who died on August 28 aged 83.

THE funeral service took place at Gorleston Crematorium on Tuesday, September 8 for Marjorie Constance Hazelwood of Lowestoft who died on August 28 aged 83.

Envoy Doug Beattie officiated.

The service was attended by more than 90 mourners including: Bert Hazelwood (husband), Joan and Brian Hare, Bill and Wendy Shuker, John and Faye Hazelwood, Joan and Roger Rackham, Yvonne and Malcolm Cherry, Joyce and Malcolm Runacres, Carolyn Hazelwood and Adrian Bird, Ruth Alsop, Lynette Forth, Chris Shuker, Lisa and Steve Howells, Anne-Marie and Stewart Battrick, Laura Painter, Emma Shuker, Emma Battrick and Jack Cushion.

Also present but too numerous to mention by name were many friends who had known Marjorie as a neighbour or as an active member of various organisations, including the Royal British Legion (Marjorie had been chairman of the Lowestoft Branch Women's Section for 21 years), the Salvation Army and the Artillery Association. Marjorie will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

The family of the late Mrs Marjorie Constance Hazelwood wish to thank all relatives and friends for their many kind expressions of sympathy.

Donations for JPUH NHS Foundation Trust Ward 16 or the Salvation Army or Macmillan Nurses Fund are still being accepted by R Rivett Ltd.

Special thanks to: Envoy Doug Beattie and his wife Ann who conducted the service so gently and sensitively, to the medical, nursing and bereavement office staff at the JPUH, especially Angela and Richard, the staff at Rivett's whose sympathetic and calm assistance guided the family through the funeral arrangements. Also to those at Appletree Court who comforted and assisted Marjorie and Bert during her illness, especially Mona and Al, and to all who helped with the wonderful spread after the service, especially Diane.

Will all please accept this as the only, but most sincere, acknowledgment.
