The death occurred on July 14 of Nora Bishop, the elegant and influential wife of holiday camp pioneer Jack Bishop, former owner of Seacroft Holiday Camp at Hemsby. Indeed Mrs Bishop was the matriarch of a holiday camp dynasty for her daughter and son-in-law Judy and Brian Potter are the proprietors of Potters Leisure Resort on the coast road at Hopton. Nora Bishop with her elegance and charisma was undoubtedly inspirational in the day to day running of Seacroft and her daughter Judy reveals the same skills at Potters Leisure Resort.
In 1974 when her husband Jack became mayor of Great Yarmouth, Nora Bishop graced the position of mayoress with flare and charm. She took a lively interest in many charitable organisations, especially the local branch of the RNLI and in 2001 she received a national certificate in recognition of her selfless dedication. She leaves her daughter and son-in-law, two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
