A KESSINGLAND mum will be trekking 23 miles along a hilly coastal path next month in an effort to raise money for The National Autistic Society.

Mother of five Angie Howard has undertaken a number of challenges for Sanwild Rehabilitation Centre, in South Africa, in the past, including having her hair chopped off and cycling to Norwich, but now she has turned her attention to raising money for another cause close to her heart.

'My youngest son Ciaran was diagnosed with Aspergers syndrome in April 2009, so I feel that I should do my bit to help raise awareness of Autism/Asperger's syndrome and also raise some well needed funds,' she said.

Angie, of Field Lane, will be trekking 23 miles from July 17-18 as she takes on the challenge of the Jurassic Coast, in Dorset and Devon.

'Although this doesn't sound a lot it is along the coastal path which is very hilly and hard going. We will be walking 14 miles in approximately eight hours on the first day, and nine miles on the second,' she said.

Money from this challenge will be raised for the national charity, but Angie, 40, has also been holding pamper parties to raise funds for the new South Lowestoft Autism group.

These parties are 10 per person and include a facial sauna, face mask, foot spa, foot massage and nail care. For details on this email angiehoward1970@yahoo.co.uk or call 07823 778862, or to sponsor Angie visit www.justgiving.com/angela-howard

The South Lowestoft Autism group is held from 6.30-8.30pm every third Thursday of the month at the Kirkley Centre. The first meeting is this Thursday (June17) and for more details call Becky on 07793 545487.
