The final preparations are being made for a production set to showcase the talents of young people in Lowestoft.

Members of the ‘Singing Futures’ choir completed a final run-though of their Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat show on Tuesday evening.

Attention now turns to the big performance, which will be held at Trinity Methodist Church – opposite the lighthouse – in the High Street tomorrow (Saturday) at 7pm.

The group is a choir of young people aged eight and above, who not only sing, but incorporate drama into concerts.

Musical director Carol Secret, who founded the group in 2012, said that people can expect “enthusiasm, fun and entertainment” from the young people at the event.

“I have been very pleased with how we have progressed and we are really getting the young people involved,” she said.

“We have been planning this for well over a year and we started rehearsals in January – the production will all be done from memory too.

“The young people are extremely loyal and people can expect enthusiasm, fun and entertainment if they come along.

“Singing is something that everybody can do – learning an instrument requires a little bit more financial input – whereas the community aspect of singing is something you can just come along and enjoy.”

The 13 youngsters rehearse every Tuesday at the church from 6pm until 7pm

Tickets for the performance cost £5, with accompanied children, under 17, free of charge.

They can be obtained from members or on the door on the evening of the concert.

The group also received a donation from Brian Hunter and John Beevor of Rotary Club of Lowestoft – as a contribution towards the cost of radio microphones for the singers.

Previously, they borrowed microphones from others and as their funds were insufficient had appealed to other organisations to help.
