New beach access steps are unveiled in Kessingland

It has been described as a "boost for Kessingland" that will enable people to access our stunning beaches and coastline.
And as a camping and leisure resort officially unveiled some new beach steps, visitors can now safety descend the steep cliff face without the need to take a time-consuming detour.
The Hollies, on London Road, held an official opening event of the steps last Saturday (May 28) – where about 200 people joined for some food and a glass of bubbly.
The park, which has been open for about three years and is owned by the Beeston Group, has initially planned for the steps to be introduced in March 2014.
But after a number of setbacks, they have now managed to unveil the steps – which cost about £100,000 – in time for the busy summer months.
It now means that people can avoid the 15-minute walk to the closest access point to the beach.
“This is a massive boost for us and a huge boost for Kessingland as a whole,” said James Bouldin – marketing manager.
“We don’t want swimming pools when we have such a gorgeous beach on our doorstep.
“The steps are the difference between us being a half decent park and a great park.
“We are really excited and this is such a big thing for us.”
After the council initially surveyed the area back in 2014, they gave the park the all clear to install the steps – after consulting whether any erosion may take place.
A number of pylons were drilled into the cliff face with the vast sturdy structure made entirely of timber.
“Previously, people did risk it against our advice, even though it was very steep and potentially dangerous.” Mr Bouldin added.
“We have had so many customers asking when the steps are going to be ready.
“Now they have been installed, it is great for the local area.
“We have got a big car park and we don’t mind people popping along to use the steps if they wish.
“We are pleased that people can now easily access a beautiful area with a really stunning beach.”
