Food is the way to the heart of people in a care home, says the new chef at Lilac Lodge in Oulton Broad.

Diana Homes, 53, relishes the opportunity of tempting the taste buds of residents every day after making the move from the kitchen team at nearby Broadlands residential home.

Mrs Homes, who also previously worked as chef at the former Suffolk County Council-run Stradbroke Court in Lowestoft for many years, said: 'I felt like a new challenge and I have already completely changed all the menus. I insist on using all fresh vegetables and we make everything from scratch. We don't buy in any cakes or desserts and I like to put my own touch on things.'

Residents at the Kingsley Healthcare run home have already enjoyed Mrs Homes' special cake creations for Mothers' Day and are looking forward to seeing what she will prepare for their public open day and Easter egg hunt on Sunday, April 16. Mrs Homes said: 'I always love making something special for residents' birthdays.'
