Tuesday 7 July sees the start of a new community project on the Gunton Estate. Organised by the Gunton Partnership, it will run every Tuesday morning from 9 am to 11 am at the estate's Community Hall opposite the shops in Hollingsworth Road, as an informal coffee morning and - importantly - a drop-in for all residents of the Gunton area. From 10 am to 11 am, Waveney District Council housing officers will be present every second Tuesday of the month, with a local ward councillor surgery every third Tuesday - initial dates are 14 July, 11 August and 8 September for housing officers, and 21 July, 18 August and 15 September for ward councillors.
'It was felt that there was a need for a community-based informal drop-in on the estate,' said a senior member of the Gunton Partnership; 'as the project evolves, hopefully more agencies will also be involved'. There are also plans to build up an information centre for the area.
As an informal drop-in, there will also be teas and coffees, as well as Community Partnership fundraising stalls for which items are always required but not furniture nor electrical goods. For more information about the new project, contact Ann on 01502 564601.
