Remember the terror of your driving test?

In Lowestoft, those trying to get their license will from June have a new part of the town to start that nervous journey.

Following more than 20 years of tests at the Rishton House driving test centre in the town, the Driver and Vehicles Standards Agency is moving to a new hub in Mobbs Way.

Last year alone Rishton House dealt with 5,512 car and bike tests with the new centre to provide better facilities for candidates and examiners.

Stephen Pavey, HEO at Lowestoft and Norwich Jupiter Road Driving Test Centres, said: 'Lowestoft driving test centre is moving after many years in Rishton House to a new purpose built test centre in Mobbs Way Lowestoft.

He added: 'DVSA's priority is to help people through a lifetime of safe driving.

'The new driving test centre in Lowestoft will enable us to test candidates on all parts of the new test and provide them with better facilities.

'This will help improve driving skills, and make Britain's roads even safer.'

The official opening of the test centre will be carried out by MP for Waveney, Peter Aldous, and will take place on Friday, June 8.

The site will be open for tests from Monday, June 11, with tests available to book at the new site from Tuesday, May 29.

For those wishing to sit a driving test in Waveney, Lowestoft remains the only choice in the area. Other test centres in Suffolk inlude Bury St Edmunds and Ipswich, with two test centres in Norwich.
