LOWESTOFT has received a welcome job boost as 89 jobs will be created when home and DIY specialists Wilkinsons opens a new store in the town next month.

The store, part of the re-development of the former Somerfield Supermarket in London Road North will open on Thursday, November 19.

Wilkinson is famous for providing a huge range of everyday essentials at great value prices and the Lowestoft store is set to offer a wide variety of health and beauty, DIY products, kitchenware, pet care and stationery, as well as a fantastic home living department.

New store manager, Marek Mrotek said: 'At a time when shoppers are becoming increasingly budget conscious it is fantastic to be able to bring the great value Wilkinson brand to Lowestoft.

'We aim to be at the heart of the community in which we operate and we're looking forward to getting to know the town's local residents and to becoming involved with its many worthwhile charities.'

Still a family owned firm after 78 years of trading, Wilkinson is committed to Britain's high streets and is an active supporter of local charities, community groups and care organisations.

Wilkinson sells more than 25,000 high quality, low-priced product lines and is one of the fastest growing retailers in the country. Currently, Wilkinson has over 325 stores across the UK and serves 178 million customers each year, with plans to have 500 stores across the UK by 2012.
