THE grand opening of QD's new town centre store in Lowestoft takes place on Thursday.

Following a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9am by WaveneyMP Bob Blizzard, doors will open to eager customers.

The new larger store will trade alongside QD's existing outlet to offer Lowestoft's shoppers even more choice, plus the added bonus of a garden centre which is due to open after Christmas.

QD's marketing operations manager, Alan Hatcher, points out the benefits of having a dual presence in the town.

'QD is all about providing terrific value and catering for the widest audience. This new high street location is more convenient for people who work in town and those customers who prefer coming into the centre of Lowestoft to do all their shopping,' he said.

Waiting to greet customers will be QD's new team led by manager, Harry Ketchell, who praised his staff for the tremendously hard work they have put in over the past few weeks to prepare the shop for trading.

'It's very rewarding to see the culmination of all the planning and staff training coming to fruition,' he said. 'People shopping in Lowestoft can find so much here at QD under one roof. We have a large number of exciting new ranges and are very well-stocked with Christmas cards, decorations and gifts for those wishing to shop early and get the best bargains.'
