Boat owners and users can soon moor up for free by a historic Broads pub and mill after the Broads Authority bought 37m of piled moorings by the site.

The purchase means that 24 hour moorings will be provided at the Berney Arms pub and mill on Breydon Water near Yarmouth.

Boat users will be able to use the moorings as a safe haven while they wait for favourable tides to cross Breydon Water and bridges on the Lower Bure.

The moorings follow the purchase of land along the River Yare by the Berney Arms for 17,500.
