A scheme to convert former offices into flats looks set to get the go-ahead.

A prior notification procedure for a change of use application to turn the former offices in Grove Road, Lowestoft into residential flats was lodged with Waveney District Council.

The application was “permitted” last week with a condition that “prior to the first occupation of the flats, details of parking provision and secure cycle storage shall be submitted to the local planning authority and the details as agreed shall be retained in perpetuity.”

A case officer report said: “The structure is a large three storey terraced property and is located within an area that is in mixed use, with dwellings and offices and is in close proximity to the town centre.

“There are other properties in the surrounding area that have been converted under the prior notification procedure.”

It concluded: “The proposed change of use is considered to comply with Class O and is considered to constitute permitted development in this instance.”
