Norfolk hit by earth tremor? Or was it a sonic boom?
Was there an earth tremor in Norfolk last night?
There have been reports that people across the county felt the ground shake at about 10.30pm on Tuesday night.
People from as far afield as Norwich, North Walsham, Gayton, Belton, Cringleford and South Lopham have reported feeling what they thought was a tremor.
They said that doors rattled and there was a rumbling noise.
However, seismologists said their equipment had not picked up any indications that there had been an earthquake and suggested it might have been a sonic boom.

Glen Ford, a seismologist with the British Geological Survey, said: 'From the descriptions and the lack of seismic information it sounds like it could have been a sonic boom.'
He said sonic booms could be caused by aircraft or even meteorites. He said: 'It's clear that something has happened and if I was a betting man I was put a tenner on it being a sonic boom.'

Mr Ford added that on July 21 there was an earthquake in the North Sea some way off the coast of Great Yarmouth, with a magnitude of 3.5.
In February 2008 Norfolk did feel the effects of an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.2 on the Richter scale.
The earthquake was centred near Market Rasen in Lincolnshire, but people in Norfolk, Newcastle, Yorkshire, London Manchester, the Midlands and parts of Wales were also affected.
That earthquake was the biggest to hit the country in 24 years.
