This warm image of a crisp leaf basking in the summer sunshine has been crowned The Journal’s Picture of the Week.

The picture was captured by Jenifer Everett-Day on her Panasonic Lumix camera as she walked through Normanston Park with her nephew.

"It was a nice, hot day, so we decided to go for a walk in the park," said Miss Everett-Day. "We noticed the light shining through the trees and thought 'we have to take a picture of this'.

She added: "I've been interested in photography for a few years but it wasn't until this year I bought a proper camera. I tend to stay local when taking photos and my go-to places are South Beach for sunrise and Oulton Broad for sunset."

As our winner, Miss Everett-Day receives a 10in x 8in framed version of her photo from Picture Studios on London Road North.
