A MAN who was found in possession of drugs at Halesworth's Gig in the Park last month has been jailed for 16 weeks.

Robert Coe, 22, of Chediston Street, Halesworth, admitted possessing cannabis and ketamine and being in breach of a 32 week suspended prison sentence imposed for earlier drug offences.

Jailing Coe for 16 weeks Judge David Goodin said he had “flagrantly” breached the suspended sentence passed in May.

The court heard that Coe was approached by police officers at the Gig in the Park in August and before he was searched admitted he had some cannabis and produced a small plastic bag.

When he was searched officers discovered cash and another plastic bag containing white powder which Coe had tried to snatch back causing the bag to split.

Rachel Ellis for Coe said he was only found in possession of a small amount of ketamine and £5 worth of cannabis.

She said Coe recognised he needed help to kick his drug habit and he had taken steps to do this.
