A 52-year-old has been charged following two burglaries which saw elderly victims targeted in their own homes.

The first took place on April 16 when a man allegedly walked into the property of an elderly woman on High Street in Lowestoft, although nothing is believed to have been stolen.

The second happened on May 30 at Whitton Court in Lowestoft, where money was allegely taken from a wallet belonging to an elderly male resident.

Martin Cahill of Bracondale, Norwich, was arrested yesterday (June 6) and taken to Great Yarmouth Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

He was subsequently charged with two counts of burglary and was remanded in custody to appear before Ipswich magistrates today (June 7).
