CAN Waveney District Council tell us what, if anything, they are doing about finding an alternative site for the nudist beach? On May 31 and last Sunday(August 16) I and several others walked for charity along the cliff top from the Pier Hotel Gorleston back to Lowestoft, all along the route there was sporadic use of the beaches, several people were using the beach below Potters holiday camp and the caravan park, all I should imagine were holiday makers.

I mention this only because it gave me an opportunity to see first hand how well the beaches were populated.

We had to use the road at various points during our walk and on reaching the bottom of Tramps Alley you could see that the most populated section of beach taking into account its size (three bays) was the nudist area.

I wrote in a previous letter to the Journal about the stretch of beach to the south of Tramps Alley being hardly used and on both the occasions of my walks, both being gloriously sunny days, this proved to be the case again.

This causes me to wonder again if the reason the council gave for the closure (erosion) is the real problem, I cannot help but wonder that if the beach brought money into the council coffers the outcome may just have been different.

Before readers start to wonder, yes, I am a user of the nudist beach, so I do have an axe to grind on the subject, but, as I stated in my previous letter I feel there is more than enough room for nudists and non-nudists alike.

So please, WDC could you at least give us some indication if anything is being done towards finding somewhere else.
