Organ Restoration Concert - The Pakefield Singers will be performing Viva La Musica! at St Mark's Church this Sunday at 3pm conducted by Vetta Wise. The accompanist is Alison Evans.
Organ Restoration Concert - The Pakefield Singers will be performing Viva La Musica! at St Mark's Church this Sunday at 3pm conducted by Vetta Wise. The accompanist is Alison Evans. Tickets are £5 each, available from Morlings, Park Pharmacy in Oulton Broad and St Mark's Church Office (01502 514774). The proceeds of this exciting concert will go towards the £32,000 needed for the restoration of the St Mark's Church Organ.
Ladies' Guild - On Thursday next week the speaker at St Luke's Ladies' Guild meeting at St Luke's Church Centre, commencing at 2.15pm will be the Rev J Fowler. All ladies welcome.
St Luke's Church - This Sunday at St Luke's Church, Homefield Avenue there will be a service of morning worship at 9.30am.
St Mark's Church - At St Mark's Church, Bridge Road on Sunday there will be a service of holy communion at 10.10am with Mark II meeting in the church centre. Midweek services at St Mark's are on morning prayer at 9.30am on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and holy communion at 9.30am on Wednesday.
Oulton Broad in Bloom - There is a coffee morning on Wednesday, June 3 from 10-11.30am at St Mark's Church Centre in aid of Oulton Broad in Bloom, with homemade cakes, crafts and bric-a-brac stalls.
Mothers' Union - Nineteen members attended the April meeting of the Mothers' Union at St Marks Church Centre on May 27. The meeting opened with a short service led by Josie Boddy. Members were reminded about the Wave of Prayer this Sunday, June 7, when members will pray at their individual homes as the church is needed for a concert. Members were also reminded about the Quiet Day at Walsingham on July 2 and the picnic at Wymondham Abbey on July 11 when a coach will be available for which a deposit of £3 is required to be paid at the next meeting. Mrs Boddy then introduced June Baker who gave a very interesting talk and slides on windmills. She described the different types of windmill, the postmill, the smock mill and tower mills. Some windmills have four sails, some five, six or as many as eight. Mrs Baker was thanked by Mrs Boddy for her very informative talk and the meeting finished with the usual tea and biscuits. The next meeting will be on Wednesday June 24 when the speaker will be Sonia Martin talking about Guyana.
Teddy Bears' Picnic - The next event in aid of the Friends of Broadlands Residential home in Borrow Road is on Saturday June 20, the popular Teddy Bears' Picnic from 2-4pm when children are invited to bring their bears and let them slide down the zip wire in a basket - great fun! There will also be games, face painting and other attractions including enjoying the lovely broadside gardens. Adults admitted free and children pay £2 which includes a picnic box. Strawberry teas (£3.50) will also be served. Tickets are now on sale from Broadlands reception or by telephoning 512895.
