At the March meeting members listened to Terry Rands speak about growing vegetables in containers. He owns a small-holding near Thetford which he gardens organically and spoke about the different meanings of the word 'container'. This could vary from a 'raised bed', which could be said to 'contain' plants, to a terracotta pot. But whichever type of container is used he emphasised the importance of good preparation and care of the container once it is planted up. He also spoke of the need for proper feeding and watering, and gave examples of which plants suited the conditions of growing in a restricted space to ensure maximum productivity.

At the next meeting on April 15, Peter Chinnery from Attleborough will talk about successful planting and care of hanging baskets.
