Oulton Broad roadworks

PUBLISHED: 10:18 16 February 2009 | UPDATED: 22:30 05 July 2010

MANY readers may well have seen the signs that say "Road Closed for 9 Days plus 9 Nights".

This signage is a little misleading.

I have read the letter issued by Suffolk County Council dated January 15, 2009, and talked to the East Area Highways Service to discuss the contents.

MANY readers may well have seen the signs that say "Road Closed for 9 Days plus 9 Nights".

This signage is a little misleading.

I have read the letter issued by Suffolk County Council dated January 15, 2009, and talked to the East Area Highways Service to discuss the contents.

The staff have been very helpful throughout and I thought that I ought to enlighten readers.

The closures as I have ascertained are:-

a) The level crossing at Oulton Broad North Station will be closed to all traffic between 19.00 on Saturday, February 14, and approximately 07.00 on Wednesday, February 18.

b) Bridge Road will be closed between 19.00 to approximately 05.00 the following morning of each of the nights between Saturday and Sunday, February 14 and 22. Obviously the contractors hope to complete in a shorter time.

What is important to note is that Bridge Road will be open to traffic during the day time hours of 05.00 approximately to 19.00 each day.

c) The repairs to Normanston Drive are for an approximate distance of 120 metres from the roundabout and heading towards Lowestoft - the A1117. These roadworks again are being carried out during the hours of 19.00 to approximately 05.00 on each of the nights of Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, February 18, 19 and 20 with the work planned to be completed by 05.00 approximately on Saturday, February 21.

My thanks in particular to Mike Ling, and in conclusion, would suggest that readers should find information on the Suffolk County Council website.
