A bench that was installed to remember an Oulton resident has received a much-needed refurbishment.
With the help of Lowestoft SOLD (Special Objectives for the Local Disabled), the bench - positioned at the junction of Union Lane and Oulton Street - has been reconditioned by Oulton Parish Council.
It was installed in memory of Alfred Youngman, who died on October 31 1990 and resided at Lothingland Care Home. At that time, it was put in place for use by his friends in Oulton village.
Members of Oulton Parish Council including chairman Brian Hunter and vice chairman Charles Swan congregated alongside SOLD to unveil the newly-refurbished bench, which sports a memorial plaque dedicated to Mr Youngman.
Special Objectives for the Local Disabled - based on the South Lowestoft Industrial Estate - offers disabled people access to a workshop environment. Service users are able to make the most of facilities including a wood workshop, computer room and greenhouse.
