A popular charity football match will return this Sunday (May 3).

The Carlton Charity Cup will be held once more at Crown Meadow, the home of Lowestoft Town FC, for Owens Wish2Walk appeal. Two local teams – FC Drifter, managed by Chase Hart and Carlton Colville Town, managed by Carl Baldry – will battle it out for the Carlton Charity Cup, with the match kicking off at 2pm and funds raised for Owen's appeal, which is helping with costs needed for regular physiotherapy sessions.

Mr Baldry said: 'Owen has spastic diplegic cerebral palsy, and he still requires daily physiotherapy. Much of this physio is not available on the NHS, so we are fund-raising to ensure that Owen has the best chance to improve. He can now walk independently and plays football as a goalie for his local team. With further intensive physio and specialist equipment Owen's doctor's, and his family, believe that one day he will run independently too.'

The Carlton Charity Cup was originally formed in 2002 by Ivan Baldry to raise money for the James Paget Hospital.

Over £15,000 was raised for the hospital over 12 years, before the club decided to raise money for Owen's appeal in 2013.

Last year saw FC Drifter win the charity cup for the first time defeating Carlton Colville town 5-1.

Both teams play in the Lowestoft and district Saturday league and have had an up and down season, with Carlton finishing 5th in the league and Drifter in 8th.

With Owen set to kick the match off, the game begins at 2pm with the gates open for the public from 1.30pm.

Entry to the game is free.
