I read with interest, the article in The Lowestoft Journal on August 7 about 'warnings over town parking bays.'My first thought was: who the devil would waste their time watching who parks where and for how long? I could only assume it would be people at home watching their streets, but aren't most places now 'permit holders' anyway?I would like to draw peoples' attention though to the actual road markings of a lot of parking bays in Lowestoft.

I would like to draw peoples' attention though to the actual road markings of a lot of parking bays in Lowestoft. Many of the 'timed' parking bays are marked out with broken double white lines at the ends of the areas - this obviously is the old way of doing it, and now no longer complies with the layout shown in The Highway Code.

I feel that if the Council cannot be bothered to rectify this problem, therefore leaving the markings incorrect, then people should not be forced to pay any fines for overstaying their welcome.

Referring to workmen with their vans etc, if they are working at a property where they need to go back and forth to their vans for equipment and tools, where are they supposed to park?

Many houses and properties in the older part of Lowestoft don't have the luxury of driveways or private access, so the road is the only option.

With most jobs taking more than one hour, they will be over the time allowed.
